The strongest ultralight fabric
What is UHMWPE fabric?
Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) has a density of 0.97 g/m³. The lightest of high-performance fibers is present.
It weighs two-thirds as much as aramid fiber and half as much as carbon fiber. UHMWPE is also the strongest fibre available. Therefore, a fabric made with UHMWPE fiber is not only lightweight but also has excellent tensile strength and tear strength.
UHMWPE fiber is flexible and absorbs energy during plastic deformation. Its ability to absorb is 1.8 times that of carbon fibre, 2.6 times of aramid fiber and 33 times of glass fiber. Compared to the UD structure, UHMWPE woven fabric combines better with resin. This makes it more suitable for composite reinforcement.
UHMWPE woven fabric has excellent properties of low-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, UV resistance, and high transmissive, bringing composites better performance. Suitable for both hard composite reinforcement and flexible composite reinforcement.
What are the benefits of UHMWPE fabric?
- Ultra lightweight
- High tensile strength and tear strength
- Low elongation
- High Abrasion resistance, impact resistance and cutting resistance
- Low-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, UV resistance and high transmissive
